美国司法部 (DOJ) 表示，20 岁的嫌疑人和同案被告、21 岁的美国人 Jeandiel Serrano 于 2024 年 9 月被捕，罪名是“密谋从华盛顿特区的一名受害者手中窃取和洗钱超过 2.3 亿美元（3.06 亿新元）的加密货币”。按今天的价格计算，被盗的 4,100 枚比特币价值超过 4.5 亿美元。
在上周的最新一次法庭听证会上，Lam 身穿绿色囚服出现在华盛顿一家法庭，他的审判日期定于 10 月 6 日。

检察官称，Lam“承认购买了 31 辆豪华汽车，其中 22 辆尚未被执法部门追回”。他们补充说：“Lam 的许多车辆至今仍未找到，比如他以 380 万美元购买的帕加尼 Huayra。”
如果罪名成立，Lam 将面临最高 20 年监禁，最高 25 万美元罚款，或诈骗所得金额的两倍。
