TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has allocated Rp32.8 trillion in cash to meet the surge in public cash transactions during Eid al-Fitr. This measure ensures smooth economic activities and optimal banking services throughout the holiday period.

Ensuring Cash Availability

BRI’s SEVP of Operations, Nyoman Sugiri Yasa, emphasized that Eid traditionally sees a spike in cash demand. To address this, BRI has secured sufficient liquidity across its branch offices and ATMs nationwide.

"BRI is committed to meeting public cash transaction needs during Eid by ensuring the availability of sufficient cash at various banking service points," Nyoman stated in an official release from Jakarta on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Decline in Cash Provision

This year, BRI's allocated cash is 6.12% lower than the previous year's figure. Nyoman, citing Antara, attributed this decrease to a 15% year-on-year (yoy) drop in cash withdrawals. The rising adoption of digital transactions has reduced the direct need for cash.

Despite the reduced cash provision, BRI assures that its banking network will operate at full capacity. With thousands of ATMs and select branch offices remaining open, customers can still access financial services as needed.

Rise in Digital Transactions

BRI’s digital banking services continue to experience rapid growth. Transactions through the BRImo super app surged by 40.54% yoy, QRIS BRI transactions skyrocketed by 186% yoy, and payments via BRI’s EDC merchants climbed by 177% yoy. This trend highlights the increasing preference for digital banking.

To enhance digital banking, BRI is optimizing BRImo, ensuring security and user-friendliness. Additionally, ATM and CRM reliability is being continuously monitored to guarantee seamless transactions during the festive period.

As of December 2024, BRI operated 19,670 ATM and CRM machines across Indonesia. The bank also maintained over 796,000 e-channel networks, including 776,000 EDCs, 10,000 ATMs, and 9,000 CRMs.

Banking Services During Eid

To meet transaction demands, BRI will keep select service offices open at strategic locations. Additionally, over 1 million BRILink Agents across Indonesia will function as banking service extensions, facilitating transactions in remote areas.

Supporting MSMEs Through KUR Disbursement

In early 2025, BRI achieved a milestone by disbursing Rp27.72 trillion in People’s Business Credit (KUR) within January and February—15.84% of the government's annual allocation of Rp175 trillion. This financing has supported 649,600 MSME debtors, reinforcing BRI’s commitment to strengthening the MSME ecosystem.

By improving access to financing, BRI aims to help businesses grow and contribute to national economic resilience.
