马斯克周一接受福克斯商业频道采访时表示，社会保障和联邦医疗保险(Medicare)在内的福利支出是削减费用的关键目标。
值得注意的是，2024年竞选期间，特朗普一再承诺他不会减少社会保障支出或缩减联邦医疗保险(Medicare)的覆盖范围，而这些社会保障计划颇得大量选民人心。
就在马斯克发表言论前48小时，特朗普在《Sunday Morning Futures》节目中再次声明：“我不会碰社会保障、联邦医疗保险、医疗补助计划(Medicaid)，现在是要杜绝欺诈行为”。
彭博社报道指出，马斯克的言论可能会在国会山和白宫引发争议。许多共和党人态度坚定，认为他的政府效率部(DOGE)削减计划中不会包括福利。民主党人则担心，DOGE的支出削减目标将意味着退休和医疗保健计划将成为整顿目标。（国际财闻汇）
