Woodside Energy Group (ASX:WDS) is aiming for the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the Scarborough Energy project in the second half of 2026, according to Liz Westcott, chief operating officer of the company's Australian operations.

Speaking at the Energy Exchange Australia on Tuesday, Westcott said the project, a natural gas field development in the Carnarvon Basin, is over 80% complete.

The development involves the installation of a semi-submersible floating production unit connected to a second LNG processing train, Pluto Train 2, which will process roughly 5 million tonnes per year of Scarborough gas, Westcott said.

Woodside shares fell past 1% in morning trade Wednesday.
