White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt signaled that the president doesn't intend to change course on tariffs, despite the drop in the stock market. "The president is unwavering in his commitment to restore American manufacturing and global dominance," Leavitt told reporters at the White House on Tuesday.
She didn't respond directly to questions about whether Trump takes responsibility for market turmoil. "The American people, CEOs and people on Wall Street and on Main Street should bet on this president," she said. "He is a deal maker, he is a businessman, and he's doing what's right for our country."
