American Airlines Chief Says United CEO 'Dead Wrong' on Premium Competition -- Market Talk

1048 ET - American Airlines CEO Robert Isom says United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby is "dead wrong" on his claim that there's only space for two premium airlines in the U.S. Kirby's comments came earlier at the 2025 JPMorgan Industrials Conference, which conference moderators interpreted as a swipe at American given Delta Air Lines' larger position in the market. When asked about the comments, Isom said he used to work with Scott and has seen him be "wrong on a lot of stuff." American has a great fleet and measured growth ahead of it, the CEO says. Scott makes those comments because he would prefer not to have American as a competitor, Isom says. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
