0828 GMT - Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index closed flat at 23782.14, erasing earlier losses. Recession fears are increasingly dominating sentiment, as markets have been "complacent" so far regarding the downside risks of Trump's tariffs to global economic growth, Michael Wan of MUFG writes in a note. Tariff and trade policy uncertainties will continue to feed through to Asia overtime through the decline in manufacturing investments and weaker exports, Wan adds. Among decliners, Zijin Mining Group fell 3.7%, HSBC lost 3.2% and Xinyi Solar was 2.0% lower. Meanwhile, Sino Biopharmaceutical rose 6.3%, Kuaishou Technology gained 5.15% and Nongfu Spring was 4.9% higher. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
