Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) has pitched US companies Nvidia (NVDA), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Broadcom (AVGO) regarding acquiring interests in a joint venture that would operate Intel's (INTC) factories, Reuters reported, citing four sources familiar with the matter.
The Taiwanese chipmaker is proposing that it would run the operations of Intel's foundry division, but it would not own more than 50%, the unnamed sources told the news agency.
Taiwan Semiconductor also pitched the idea to Qualcomm (QCOM), Reuters reported, citing one of the people and a separate source.
Any final deal would need the Trump administration's approval, according to the report.
Taiwan Semiconductor, Intel, Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm declined to comment, while the White House and Broadcom did not respond to requests for comment, Reuters reported.
Nvidia declined to comment on the matter, a company spokesperson said in a statement e-mailed to MT Newswires. Taiwan Semiconductor, Intel, AMD, Broadcom, and Qualcomm did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
