1048 ET - The ultimate direction of policies enacted under President Trump's new administration remains unclear, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon says in a letter to shareholders. "I expect that there will be many aspects that are supportive of growth, and others that could be less so," he writes. On one hand, there was a meaningful shift in CEO sentiment last fall following Trump's win that prompted increased appetite for deal-making, given the expected change in the regulatory environment, Solomon says. But on the other hand, discussion around tariffs "may weigh on corporate sentiment, and the impact on bottom lines could be significant," he writes. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
