TEMPO.CO, Batam - President Prabowo Subianto released the latest National Strategic Projects (PSN) list through Presidential Regulation Number 12 of 2025 on February 10, 2025.
In addition to introducing new PSN programs, the regulation also continues several projects from the administration of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, categorized as carry-over projects.
In the Riau Islands Province, four PSNs are included in the list. However, the Rempang Eco City and Pulau Tanjung Sauh projects, previously designated under President Joko Widodo’s term, are absent. The government has yet to explain why these projects were excluded.
Among the four PSNs in the Riau Islands, one is the development of the Galang Batang Special Economic Zone (KEK), which will focus on processing mineral products from bauxite mining. Another is the industrial zone on Ladi Island, though official government details remain scarce.
Additionally, the Wiraraja Green Renewable Energy & Smart-Eco Industrial Park is planned for Galang Island, near Rempang Island. Managed by PT Galang Bumi Industri and PT Marubeni Global Indonesia, the project is expected to attract USD17.6 billion in investment over the next five years.
The final PSN in the province covers Toapaya, Poto Island, and Masiran Village, designated for industries including ammunition manufacturing, shipbuilding, steel smelting, and recycling, with an estimated investment of Rp120.5 trillion.
