Haidilao (HKG:6862) will compensate more than 4,000 customers who visited its downtown Shanghai restaurant after an incident in which two individuals urinated into a hotpot broth, Reuters reported Wednesday.

A video of two men peeing on the broth of their hotpot in a private dining room went viral in February, the report said.

Haidilao said it only learned of the incident four days after it occurred on Feb. 24 and initially had no information about the time or location, Reuters reported.

The hotpot giant said the incident revealed shortcomings in staff training, the news agency reported.

Haidilao did not disclose how much it would compensate each affected customer, according to Reuters.

Shares fell 3% during Thursday's late morning trading.
