Comcast's (CMCSA) NBCUniversal and the International Olympic Committee said Thursday they have extended media rights for the Olympic Games in the US for the 2033 to 2036 cycle in a $3 billion deal.

The extension will cover Winter Olympic 2034 and the Olympic Games 2036 on all NBCUniversal platforms, the parties said.

Comcast also partnered with the IOC on new joint initiatives and projects, including infrastructure, connectivity, expertise in digital broadcasting and advertisements, and investments in relevant startups.

The partnership will allow the company to "provide even more innovative technological support and solutions to the IOC and its stakeholders," according to Comcast Chief Brian Roberts.
