Build-A-Bear Workshop posted higher-than-expected revenue in its latest quarter and forecast further growth in the fiscal year.
The stuffed-animal retailer logged net income of $21.7 million, or $1.62 a share, for the fourth quarter ended Feb. 1, compared with $22.3 million, or $1.57 a share, in the prior-year period. Stripping out certain one-time items, earnings came in at $1.59 a share.
Revenue edged up to $150.4 million from $149.3 million. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $147.7 million.
The St. Louis company noted that consolidated e-commerce demand decreased nearly 12% in the quarter.
Build-A-Bear's fiscal 2024 fourth quarter consisted of a 13-week period, while its fourth quarter in 2023 comprised a 14-week period.
For fiscal 2025, Build-A-Bear expects revenue to grow on a mid-single-digit percentage basis.
Additionally, the company expects pre-tax income to range from a low-single-digit percentage decline to low-single-digit growth. Build-A-Bear added that this is due to over $10 million of additional costs, about half of which is driven by its current estimated net tariff impact.
