消息面上，长和此前公告称与美国贝莱德牵头的财团达成原则性协议，拟向该财团出售旗下和记港口集团80%的资产，转让其持有和运营的分布于23个国家的43个港口及配套物流网络，包括巴拿马运河两端的巴尔博亚和克里斯托瓦尔港口。有报道指出，贝莱德财团通过此次收购可深度嵌入全球贸易关键节点，而长和退出则可能受地缘政治压力影响。摩根大通发布研报称，长和公布计划出售中国以外的港口资产，其中包括近期卷入争议的巴拿马港口，这一项目堪称集团历年最大规模的资产出售行动，预计可套现超190亿美元。
