Uniper repaid around 2.6 billion euros ($2.83 billion) to Germany, with the company having received financial support following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The German gas importer said Thursday that the state aid repayment was settled on Tuesday.
In December 2022, Uniper received around 13.5 billion euros in financial support from Germany to help manage high import costs following Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the reduction of supply from Russia.
"With the help of the stabilization measures, Uniper was able to meet its supply obligations and reliably deliver gas to municipal utilities and German industry," Uniper said.
