Acacia Research Shares Touch 52-Week Low After Swing to 4Q Loss

Shares of Acacia Research slipped after the company swung to a loss and revenue fell by half during the fourth quarter.

The stock declined 12%, to $3.70, on Thursday, and one point hit a 52-week low of $3.66. Shares have fallen 18% over the past three months.

Acacia, which acquires and operates industrial and technology businesses, posted a loss of $13.4 million, or 14 cents a share, in the three months ended Dec. 31, compared with a profit of $74.8 million, or 75 cents a share, the year before.

Revenue fell 47%, to $48.8 million. Intellectual property operations revenue was negatively affected by lower licensing and settlement agreements during the quarter, Acacia said.
