Mercurius Capital Investment (SGX:5RF) received a demand for 364,749 ringgit from Songmart Malaysia's liquidator over unpaid stamp duty linked to its 2021 acquisition of Songmart Holdings, according to a Thursday filing on the Singapore Exchange.
The company's former chairman, Chang Wei Lu, said he had transferred 1 million ringgit from his account to Tan Boon Kok, the former executive director of Fourseas Holdings, after the vendors said they lacked funds to cover the payment.
Evidence of the transfer has been shared with the company's lawyer.
