0707 ET - Canada's big energy companies argue its time to focus on building needed energy infrastructure to secure economic sovereignty for the country through the energy industry. With the country heading toward a federal election, CEOs from the 10 largest oil and gas companies and four largest pipeline operators sent an open letter to political party leaders proposing an action plan for new oil and gas pipelines and liquefied natural gas export terminals. They call for regulation to be simplified and for a commitment to firm deadlines for project approvals. The CEOs also want caps on emissions to be dropped and the federal carbon levy to be repealed to allow provincial governments to set carbon regulations. (robb.stewart@wsj.com; @RobbMStewart)
