智通财经APP获悉，西班牙桑坦德银行(SAN.US)将关闭其在英国的一些分支机构并裁员，以改善英国部门的业绩。这家西班牙最大的银行周三表示，将关闭英国95家分行，约750名员工将面临裁员的风险。该行目前在英国有444家分行。
据媒体去年11月报道，桑坦德银行的英国业务表现不佳，而英国汽车金融审查又带来了最新冲击。知情人士当时表示，桑坦德银行之前曾考虑剥离英国资产，如果觉得其中任何资产能卖出好价钱，可能会再次考虑这么做。
桑坦德银行董事长Ana Botin曾表示，该行可以将资源从业绩不佳的部门转移出去，而不需要出售这些部门。她本周表示，该行的重点是美国和拉丁美洲，同时未来几年欧洲也具有发展潜力。
