Singapore Shares Edge Higher on Likely Position Adjustments Before FOMC Decision -- Market Talk

0115 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index edges 0.2% higher to 3904.20 on likely position adjustments before the FOMC's monetary-policy decision due later today, where the U.S. central bank is widely expected to keep rates on hold. Investors will focus on Fed Chair Powell's tone in hopes of assessing the impact of tariffs on future monetary policy, two members of Sucden Financial's Research team say in a commentary. Among the best performers on the benchmark index, Sembcorp Industries rises 1.3%, Jardine Cycle & Carriage adds 1.1%, and Thai Beverage is up 1.0%. Meanwhile, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust falls 1.4% and Seatrium loses 1.4%. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
