Firebird Metals (ASX:FRB) secured mining lease 52/1086 for its Oakover manganese project in Western Australia, conditional on the approval of the company's mining proposal from the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

The company plans to complete environmental surveys and mining studies to support the proposal, the filing said.

FRB also said it has secured about 60% of funding through agreements with China Chemical and China Construction Bank for its proposed manganese plant in China, the filing added.

The proposed plant is expected to be built within 12 months after a final investment decision, the company said.
