South Korea's Cabinet approved special bills on high-level radioactive waste management, power grid expansion, and offshore wind power to support the increasing electricity demand from climate change and AI-led consumption.
The radioactive waste act mandates temporary storage by 2050 and permanent disposal by 2060, Yonhap News reported Tuesday.
The power grid expansion act shifts cable construction projects to the government, ensuring long-term infrastructure planning. The laws take effect six months from the official date of proclamation, the report said.
