Meta Platforms signed a new power purchase deal with the German utility RWE that would allow the tech giant to support its growing regional operations and data center capacity in Texas.
Under the agreement, Meta will purchase the entire output of RWE's Waterloo Solar project in Bastrop County, Texas, scheduled to begin construction late in 2025 with a planned capacity of 200-megawatts.
"RWE's Waterloo project which, once operational, will support Meta's goal of matching its operations with 100% clean and renewable energy," RWE said Tuesday.
The companies didn't provide financial details on the agreement, which represents the third deal of its kind between both parties.
In August, the companies disclosed that they had signed two long-term agreements for Meta to use RWE's power from its 274-megawatt County Run Solar project in Illinois and its 100 megawatt Lafitte Solar project in Louisiana, both planned for late 2025.
