HSBC's Asia Strategy Team Has Neutral Weighting on South Korean Equities -- Market Talk

0239 GMT - HSBC's Asia Strategy team has a neutral weighting on South Korean equities due to tariff risks, according to a research report. "The main downside risk is volatile U.S. tariff policy as Korea is an export-driven economy," the team says. Also, political uncertainty poses risks to the domestic ruling party's 'Value-Up' program, though there are signs of progress, the team says. Meanwhile, "valuations are compelling after the downturn," the team says. "We think funds have room to raise exposure to Korea as they have cut holdings since June 2024," the team adds. HSBC's buy-rated stock ideas are SK Hynix, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, LS Electric, Naver, Kolmar Korea, JYP Entertainment, KB Financial Group, Hyundai Motor, LG Energy Solution, L&F Co., and Hyundai Engineering & Construction.
