TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto acknowledged that online motorcycle taxi (Ojol) drivers are set to receive an Eid al-Fitr Allowance (THR) of Rp1 million. However, he urged ride-hailing companies to increase this amount.
"I heard they will receive Rp 1 million per driver. I encourage private companies to consider adding to that," Prabowo stated during a Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Prabowo emphasized that Ojol drivers contribute significantly to these companies, justifying a higher THR. Previously, he had instructed online transportation firms to provide the Eid bonus following discussions with Gojek CEO Patrick Waluyo and Grab CEO Anthony Tan on March 10, 2025.
The final THR amount for Ojol drivers is still pending government confirmation. Typically, THR calculations are based on basic wages and fixed allowances.
According to the Minister of Manpower’s Circular Letter No. M/2/HK.04/III/2024, Ojol drivers and couriers fall under Fixed-Term Employment Contracts (PKWT), making them eligible for THR.
Workers employed for at least 12 months are entitled to one month’s salary, while those with shorter tenures receive a proportional amount.
Daily wage workers’ THR is calculated based on their average earnings over the past 12 months. For those paid per output unit, the THR is determined by their average income before Eid.
The government mandates that employers must pay THR in full, without installments, and no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr.
