WeRide (WRD) said Thursday that in partnership with French autonomous mobility network operator beti, it has obtained France's Level-4 driverless public road testing and operating permit.
Under France's 2019 PACTE law, obtaining the permit required approval from several government agencies, coordinated by the Directorate General for Energy and Climate, alongside the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Ecological Transition, the company said.
The company said it and Beti completed the rigorous approval process in just three months, adding the new permit allows its autonomous minibus to operate at speeds of up to 40 km.
