Bunge said Tuesday it would sell its European margarines and spreads business to Vandemoortele, a family-owned food company based in Belgium.
Financial details weren't disclosed. According to Vandemoortele, the activities represent turnover of more than 450 million euros ($486 million).
As part of the agreement, Vandemoortele will acquire the U.S. company's margarines and spreads business in Germany, Finland, Poland and Hungary, as well as its spreads and margarine manufacturing sites and a portfolio of 20 consumer brands, Bunge said.
Vandemoortele said the transaction reinforces its plant-based food solutions business's commitment to supporting more sustainable foods. It expects the deal to close in 2026.
