European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower late Friday morning, declining 0.49% to 1,404.43 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which is about 1.5% lower for the week.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies DBV Technologies (DBVT) and Genfit (GNFT), which advanced 49% and 5.2% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY), which rose 1.5%.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by internet advertising firm Criteo (CRTO), which fell 3.6%. It was followed by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which were down 3.1% and 2.8% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and utilities provider National Grid (NGG), which increased 5.6% and 2.9% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which were up 2% and 1.6% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN), which lost 3.1% and 2.9% respectively. They were followed by financial services company Barclays (BCS) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which dropped 2.7% and 2.1% respectively.
