Auto stocks fell Wednesday after news that the White House will unveil automotive tariffs this afternoon.
Officials are weighing plans to impose tariffs on finished vehicles coming into the U.S. but not automotive parts, according to a Wall Street Journal report that cited Sen. Bernie Moreno (R., Ohio) and other people familiar with the discussions.
General Motors and Stellantis have been among the hardest hit of the auto stocks today, though Ford Motor has held up better.
