L3Harris Technologies (LHX) said Wednesday it has used its new rocket motor called eSR-19 to power its air-launched medium range ballistic missile target vehicle in a successful test.
The Missile Defense Agency recently used the eSR-19 in the test that showed the rocket motor powered both the first and second stages of the target, it added. The USS Pinckney successfully detected and tracked the hypersonic target and simulated firing an upgraded Standard Missile 6, according to the company.
L3Harris Technologies said the new eSR-19 is an improved version of the older SR-19 motor used in Minuteman III strategic missiles.
