BCE's (BCE) Bell Media unit said Wednesday it has acquired a majority stake in Sphere Abacus through its parent company Sphere Media International, in a move to expand the reach of Canadian content globally.
As part of the acquisition, UK-based Sphere Abacus becomes the main international distributor of Bell Media's owned distribution rights, the company said, adding that the transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sphere Abacus will continue to headed by its managing director Jonathan Ford.
