Trump Tariffs Seen as Unrestrained by Market Fears -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
28 Mar

1503 ET - Trump tariffs will likely be unbridled by concerns over how much harm they could do to business, Wolfe Research's Tobin Marcus and Chutong Zhu write. The President "is signaling significant pain tolerance, and we believe him," Marcus and Zhu say. They warn that the most recent announcement, a 25% levy on imported vehicles, will stack up with other duties, including ones to be revealed next week. "As with most of his tariff agenda, this looks like a play for long-term re-industrialization at the cost of short-term pain, and its scale suggests he is willing to endure some disruption."
