Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology (HKG:9863), Stellantis' Chinese partner, plans to introduce smart-driving EVs in Europe next year, marking the first timeline for Chinese ADAS technology overseas, Reuters reported Wednesday.
Leapmotor will establish a European R&D team to refine self-driving algorithms utilizing local road data. Senior VP Cao Li said adapting to regional traffic rules is a key challenge, Reuters said.
Cao emphasized the importance of localized data collection to ensure compliance with European regulations. The company has not yet announced the location of its R&D hub, Reuters said.
