PANews 3月28日消息，据CoinDesk报道，Layer 1区块链Sei（SEI）背后的Sei基金会正考虑收购破产的基因组公司23andMe，并计划将1500万用户的基因数据上链。该基金会表示，基因数据安全是国家安全问题，尤其是在23andMe面临财务困境并于本周申请第11章破产保护的背景下。
如果收购成功，Sei基金会将把23andMe的数据整合至其区块链，并通过加密技术保护隐私，赋予用户对其基因数据的控制权，让用户自主决定数据的商业化方式。该基金会称，这一举措是其“去中心化科学（DeSci）”战略中最大胆的尝试。受此消息影响，SEI代币一度上涨3%，随后回吐部分涨幅。
