ASX Midday Sector Update: Information technology Stocks Jump, Utilities Sector Falls

Information technology stocks led a rebound on the ASX, rising 1.6% at midday Tuesday, The Australian sharemarket tracked gains on Wall Street as technology stocks rose after reports suggesting that the Trump administration might take a more measured approach to trade tariffs.

Adveritas (ASX:AV1) clarified that a AU$1 million annual contract value it announced earlier is a renewal of an existing contract and the renewal contract has a term of three years with an average annual contract value of around AU$1 million.

On the flip side, the utilities sector fell 0.79%.

Meridian Energy (ASX:MEZ, NZE:MEL) will start construction on its 130-megawatt Ruakaka solar farm in August after securing board approval for the NZ$227 million project. Construction and maintenance contracts have been awarded to renewable energy firm Ethical Power.
