FirstEnergy will cut less than 3% of its workforce and reassign 200 employees as part of an effort to boost efficiency and control costs.
The Akron, Ohio-based utility company said the organizational shakeup aligns with its new business model, which strives to make the company more efficient and sustainable, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Wednesday. The changes are consistent with its focus on operations and maintenance expense discipline, the company said.
FirstEnergy employed 12,294 workers as of Dec. 31, according to their most recent annual report.
