RPT-BUZZ-PREVIEW: Dollar Tree shares off 2%; Q4 EPS, rev seen falling

** Shares in discount retailer Dollar Tree Inc DLTR.O down 2.7% ahead of fiscal Q4 report due out before market open on Wednesday

** DLTR under-performs consumer staples group .SPLRCS, down ~1%

** Wall St sees Dollar Tree, Family Dollar owner reporting adj EPS of $2.19 vs $2.55 in year-ago qtr on rev of $8.24 bln vs $8.64 bln in year-ago quarter, as per LSEG

** In last 8 quarters EPS, rev met or beat Street 5 times

** DLTR warned in December that steep holiday quarter promotions could hurt margins; co looking to restructure after ceding market share, including potential sale/spinoff of Family Dollar, which it bought in 2015

** BofA says tariffs could negatively impact DLTR gross margins as DT imports ~41-43% of its retail value purchases vs ~15-17% at Family Dollar but also says it has identified alternative production for product categories, negotiated with suppliers, reset pack sizes, discontinued some items

** Stock last traded at $67.92 vs median PT of $80, as per LSEG which shows 29 analyst ratings: 1 'strong buy,' 7 'buy,' 20 'hold' and 1 'sell'. On Tues Truist Securities cut target price for the stock to $76 from $83

** DLTR shares down ~9% YTD after falling ~47% in 2024 vs YTD gain of ~0.9% for SPLRCS after ~12% advance in 2024
