Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX:KAL) completed 16 drill holes for a total of 2,446 meters as part of its reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Lighthorse prospect at its Pinjin gold project in Western Australia, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

Rain events and groundwater inflows slowed the progress of the program. Its laboratory gold assays are being fast-tracked and the firm expects to define the three-dimensional distribution of gold mineralization in the subsurface at Lighthorse.

It will conduct an air core drill program to test possible strike extents of gold mineralization at the prospect.

Its shares fell 4% in recent trading on Tuesday.
