Jiangxi Copper (HKG:0358, SHA:600362) reported the findings of an investigation into the molten copper spill on August 3, 2024, at its subsidiary, Shandong Humon Smelting, which resulted in worker casualties, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.
Authorities cited inadequate safety controls and misreporting of the incident. Eight individuals are facing a criminal investigation, while 15 executives, including senior management, will receive administrative penalties.
The company pledged to enhance safety protocols and strengthen risk management to prevent future accidents.
