Advanced Medical Solutions Group's shares rose after Montagu Private Equity said it was considering making an offer to buy the London-listed company.
Shares were up 30.90 pence, or 16%, at 229.50 pence in late afternoon trading, having peaked at 236 pence earlier in the session. It had a market capitalization of 432.9 million pounds ($558 million) based on Wednesday's closing share price.
Montagu didn't disclose any price or provide any further information but said there is no certainty any offer will be made.
Advanced Medical--which specializes in tissue-healing technologies--said in response that it hadn't received any proposal from Montagu.
Montagu has until April 24 to either make a formal offer to buy Advanced Medical or withdraw under U.K. Takeover Panel rules.
