1249 GMT - Qualcomm's bid for Alphawave is likely to happen, Jefferies analysts Janardan Menon and Om Bakhda write in a note. The California-based Qualcomm said that it was considering making an offer to acquire the U.K. semiconductor company, without disclosing financial details. "The acquisition would provide Qualcomm with an entry into the data centre segment through both Networking chips and custom ASIC solutions," the analysts say. The M&A interest for Alphawave supports a stock recommendation upgrade to buy from hold, the U.S. bank says. Alphawave shares are down 0.4% at 137.10 pence. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)
