ASP Isotopes Begins Ytterbium-176 Production in South Africa

ASP Isotopes (ASPI) Tuesday morning said it has started production of commercial samples of Ytterbium-176 after recently completing construction and commissioning the laser system at its first quantum enrichment facility in Pretoria, South Africa.

Ytterbium-176 is a stable isotope of the rare earth element ytterbium, which is used in the production of Lutetium-177, a radiopharmaceutical used to treat various types of cancer, the company said.

ASP said it expects commercial sale of "highly enriched" Ytterbium-176 within this year.

Shares of the company rose 1.4% in recent trading.
