0202 GMT - Singapore's telecommunications sector should post decent 1Q earnings growth, UOB Kay Hian analysts write in a note. Growth is likely to be supported by factors including strong earnings visibility, improving business outlooks and cost-saving initiatives, they say. The sector is currently trading slightly below its five-year average forward ratio of enterprise value to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, they note. The brokerage continues to like telcos with regional exposure, partly due to a persistently weak domestic market in Singapore amid stiff pricing competition. UOB KH maintains an overweight rating on the sector and pegs Singtel as its top pick.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
