0912 ET - Rogers' C$7 billion infrastructure backhaul deal will help reduce leverage before closing the MLSE deal which will bring it back up again. Maher Yaghi of Scotiabank says in a note that the deal will reduce leverage by about 0.7x, but will rise again by 0.4x once its C$4.7 billion acquisition of 37.5% of the Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment from telecom peer BCE. Among the teams the MLSE houses are the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL team, the NBA's Toronto Raptors and Toronto FC, Toronto's MLS soccer team. "All in, we expect the stock to react positively today as leverage is reduced with minimal negative impact on free cash flow," Yaghi says. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
