Kinepolis and Imax inked a deal under which the movie theater chain will open nine new Imax entertainment systems.
Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.
Seven of the new locations will open throughout Europe, and two in the U.S. and Canada, the companies said Monday. Eight of the nine locations are expected to open before the end of the year.
The deal builds on an existing partnership, under which Belgium-based Kinepolis has partnered with Imax on 12 locations since early 2023.
The new locations will be built with Imax with Laser, which the entertainment-technology company called its most advanced entertainment experience, equipped with lifelike images and precision audio.
"Our commitment is to deliver the best possible film experience for each movie, and Imax has consistently proven its ability to elevate the viewing experience of Hollywood's biggest films," Kinepolis Chief Executive Eddy Duquenne said.
