Nintendo said it has delayed preorders for its Switch 2 indefinitely after President Trump announced tariffs on several of its key manufacturers.
The home-entertainment product company said the new console's U.S. preorders would no longer start on the previously announced date of April 9 in order to assess the potential effects of the tariffs and evolving market conditions.
The company said it will update the timing of preorders at a later date, and continues to target a launch date of June 5.
The Kyoto, Japan, company announced the new console on Wednesday, shortly before Trump announced a new set of tariffs on several countries including China and Vietnam, both key to the company's manufacturing and production.
