Caterpillar has hired Christy Pambianchi as the construction and mining equipment maker's next chief human resources officer, plucking the executive from chip maker Intel.

Caterpillar on Thursday said Pambianchi joins the Irving, Texas, company on May 1 and will serve as a member of its executive office.

Pambianchi joined Intel as executive vice president and chief people officer in September 2021 after a stint as Verizon's chief human resources officer.

Intel said Pambianchi will remain with the Santa Clara, Calif., company through the end of the month to assist with the transition, adding that it plans to name a successor prior to her departure.

Caterpillar in January said its current chief human resources officer, Cheryl Johnson, will retire at the end of April after seven years with the company.
