HSBC (HKG:0005) bought back 3,547,112 shares in Hong Kong and London on Tuesday, according to a Wednesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.
The British lender repurchased 1,947,112 shares in the UK at a weighted average price of 8.81 pounds sterling apiece and 1,600,000 shares in Hong Kong at a weighted average price of HK$88.58.
Since the start of the current buyback program, HSBC has repurchased 139,503,496 shares for $1.59 billion.
Upon cancellation of the repurchased shares in the UK, the bank will have 17,713,194,695 ordinary shares with voting rights.
