UniCredit Examines Amundi Alternatives Amid Doubts Over BPM Backing, Bloomberg Says, Citing Sources

-- UniCredit is analyzing options to replace Credit Agricole's asset manager Amundi when an existing sales partnership with the firm expires in about two years' time, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.

-- This comes amid signs that Credit Agricole doesn't back UniCredit's takeover bid for its smaller peer Banco BPM, according to Bloomberg.

-- Credit Agricole's backing is important for UniCredit's CEO Andrea Orcel, as the French lender is Banco BPM's largest shareholder and has various sales partnerships with it, Bloomberg reports.
