Policy Institute of Australia CEO Amy Auster has commented on the productivity of the Australian economy amid US tariffs, claiming “it’s up to the community to understand that our circumstances have changed.”
“We look to government and politicians for a lot of the answers – it is government’s role to set the rules about how the markets and our economy works … it’s up to the community to understand that our circumstances have changed and we might have to think differently,” Ms Auster said.
“It’s the market that determines productivity, and companies have a big role to play.
“There is a role for the federal government but also the state governments.”
